A William Goldman is known for being the author of the book, which was later film, The Princess Bride , but was also a successful screenwriter in Hollywood then went on to win two Oscars for the screenplays for the movies All the President's Men and Two men and a destination.
The silent gondoliers have much of a fable, or story, and it resembles a The Princess Bride. The argument is relatively simple and tells the story of a boy who wants to be a gondolier and which has no endowment for the singing. Everyone knows that to become a gondolier singing is required, including the author tells the story of how the great singer Caruso jumped the Grand Canal to hear the best singing gondoliers. Do you sing better than him? Therefore, Luigi, if you want to become a gondolier should improve his voice. His dream, however, is to sing while rowing down the Grand Canal, would certainly be difficult because every time he issues a notice will fall from the balconies of the palaces and houses all sorts of objects and customers end up fleeing the ship. How to get your sleep and why stop singing Venetian gondoliers is the argument to discover.
The author comes back to show with this fable that all dreams are possible if one knows look, as happened with the love that pursued the pirate The Princess Bride. Positive messages are vital and the reader will eventually find in this book and turned his story into a novel that sometimes recalls those fables we read of Iriarte small or Samaniego.
With simple language, prose watermark and discharged of all that goes with a smooth cadence, it is easy to read the book in more than a couple of hours, tops.
Another hit are the illustrations, the painter Paul Giovanopoulos, making it a singularly beautiful work.
The reader who tasted with pleasure the softness in the narrative of The Princess Bride also enjoy the history of The silent gondoliers.
The book was published under the pseudonym of S. Morgenstern. As a curious note begins with a letter explaining that his editor Morgenstern is not dead and that is false information about his death has been given.
To enjoy this novel as will secure for us a very positive message as if Amelie it had been.
