Vicente Luis Mora is known for many aspects. Just type your name in google to see who handles many projects simultaneously. That ubiquity, that some of us seems almost impossible, more or less as the number of works written by Lope de Vega in life, not prevent it wisely devote himself to writing poetry, novels and essays. And, according to what you can read his blog, to engage in reading a lot of books. And certainly Cromm Alba as a novel might not stand out as much for his argument by way of putting it.
Not too long ago I had the opportunity to interview the Chilean author, Claudia Apablaza. In that conversation we talk about gender, their mix and also how to approach a novel far from the linearity of fragmentation. All this based on his latest work, Journal species. Vicente Luis Mora similar uses some piecemeal approaches, avoiding the linearity of the traditional narrative, incorporating the forms of blogs, chats and other internet tools. As Apablaza, which used a form of narrative based on the story to pieces through the post of blogs, Vicente Luis Mora incorporates the voices of various characters who express themselves through other means. Appears straightforward language chat, spontaneous language, hardly has filters, fast, sometimes too honest and lacking control. It also appears more relaxed writing the diary. They will incorporate news stories and, above all, the magazine format because Cromm Alba is presented as if it were a magazine, Upman. A special issue. Find sections ad, which the author has provided a corrosive humor sometimes-news, reports, letters to the editor and publisher.
things first. Cromm Alba is a novel. His argument is basically simple. A police inspector, Alba Cromm, a specialist in computer crime, is investigating a case of pedophilia on the net and this will have to face a hacker. All mixed with the various events of the past and present of the protagonist: his difficulty getting along with male gender, their memories of the past as a soldier, his visits to the psychologist and friend ...
Alba Cromm pinpoints some of their concerns through a newspaper and a blog.
Del argument
little to add. Of how much to say, because Vicente Luis Mora has done a millimeter to imagine a journal from its graphics, layout, sections, all the details, knowing that later had to integrate his novel in that magazine. We're almost talking a metagénero, a novel in a journal. At that point we must consider who has invented a new format. And it is not surprising given its concern over the bridges between books of its kind and even different genres and formats whether graphics, audio or audiovisual. In the contemplation of art as a whole, he often speaks of a pangea, it is conceivable that a novel is not a strict genre, but rather a large bag where everything is possible, Baroja definition and use many years ago, a gateway to the knowledge of everything that surrounds us all the art around us, the world around us. Or perhaps the art is not part of the world the world can not be part of art? Following his own task of building bridges is where the reality of his novel, Cromm Alba, takes real courage and consistency. Task that should be given to think beyond the actual argument. For Vicente Luis Mora talks about the impossibility of telling a story from a single story, not only through the different viewpoints of the protagonists, but also from the different means of expression that we handle today. Highlights the inability of the linearity of view, because even a person who provides a television screen has the ability to change the channel limit. Vicente Luis Mora recounts changing channel constantly and, indirectly, zapping introduces the concept of fiction. More than unique because, even as in real life, the novel can contain its own noise, noise in this case literature. And it is but every one of those ads that interrupt the reading of the book? For a linguist would be obvious: noise that is introduced into the canal. Attenuates noise or distract us from the main message. But, assuming that reading itself is noisy, even the noise is your own messages. Some humorous and other information. Commercials, external elements to the novel, which, however worldviews contain the author concern: waste and recycling (p 44), dehumanization family (p.65), violence (p.88), the economic situation (p.90) and concern for the health and appearance (p.207).
On the other hand, the story does not end in the book we read. Because the author has prepared another surprise. The narrative continues through the blogosphere on blogs that two characters have on the Internet. And these blogs continue as the author wished. Game that Apablaza implemented in the book above. Therefore, the author also burst format of the work of the work, or metaobra, because when you acquire the book is a warning that the work is not complete, or at least continues in another space, in another format. Game gives rise to many possibilities that perhaps not many authors or publishers have contemplated creating products mixture.
Some other aspects to be analyzed. "Given the difficult relationship with the male protagonist, why raise the novel into a men's magazine character quite retrograde and sexist? See the editorial of the magazine, pages 13 through 18 or letters to the editor on page 44, or, simply, that the next issue of the journal is devoted to Rocco Siffredi which in 2018 will no longer be sure that such a good view .
And for those readers dice to find the bugs, in this case that caused, I suggest you carefully read the last page that announces the next issue of Upman, and which will certainly find many familiar names. Or the devastating criticism that one of the characters makes a book the author, page 129.
